We install heat pumps for landlords, and only for landlords. That focus is deliberate. A landlord's needs are not the same as an owner-occupier's. You are juggling EPC deadlines, gas safety obligations, void periods, tenants who pay their own bills, and a portfolio that may span dozens of properties of different ages and conditions. We built the business around those realities, not around selling a single shiny system to a homeowner who will live with it for twenty years.
Why we focus on landlords
The private rented sector is heading into a decade of tightening energy rules. The government intends to raise the minimum EPC for privately rented homes in England from band E to band C, phased towards 2030, and the equivalent direction of travel in Wales is the same. A great deal of rented stock, particularly older terraced and solid-walled housing, cannot reach band C on insulation alone. The heating system is the lever that moves it. Replacing a gas boiler with a well-designed heat pump, at the point the boiler is due for replacement anyway, is one of the few measures that can lift a property two EPC bands and remove the annual gas safety burden at the same time. That is the problem we solve.
How we work
We are independent of any manufacturer, so we specify the heat pump that suits your property rather than the one we are incentivised to sell. Every quote starts with a survey of the existing radiators and a look at the EPC and heating bills, because the running cost a tenant will actually pay depends on the flow temperature we can design for, and that depends on the emitters. We design low, typically 45 to 55C, to keep the seasonal efficiency high. We quote to the recognised standards, BS EN 14825 for SCOP and BS EN 14511 for rated COP, so you can compare our numbers directly against any other compliant installer. If a property genuinely is not ready for a heat pump without significant fabric work, we tell you that upfront rather than fitting one that will struggle and generate complaints.
Grants and paperwork handled
Because we are MCS certified, we can claim the £7,500 Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant on your behalf for every eligible domestic property, deducting it from your invoice so you only pay the net cost. We handle the grant paperwork, the MCS registration, any BS 4142 acoustic assessment, and the planning check where one is needed. For portfolio landlords we plan phased programmes, converting properties as boilers reach end of life, so the capital outlay is spread and you never pay to fit two heating systems in the same house inside a decade.
Honest by default
The heat pump trade has a reputation problem, built on over-promised quotes and systems fitted to houses that were never suitable. We work the opposite way. We model running cost and carbon from your real consumption data, share the full workings, and would rather walk away from a property that does not suit a heat pump than damage our name fitting one that disappoints. That approach is what keeps landlords coming back to us with the next property in the portfolio.
